SEO Case #1: I Love Cuckoldry - Step 4: Off-Page SEO, Blogosphere & Social MediasphereContinuing with my refinement efforts for driving more traffic to I Love Cuckoldry...Off-Page SEO This section was pretty much good to go. My Domain Info showed me as registered for some time to come, but they recommend I move from a free hosted blog service. I only have a Google PageRank of 1, but that's to be understood considering very few people link to me, and those who do have low PR too. Google had crawled all my posts and within the last few days no less. When viewed as a comparative percentage, my Alexa ranking doesn't seem so bad. I Love Cuckoldry is in the top 4.34% for traffic rank (my numerical rank is 1,332,090). I only have 16 inbound links, and I'm not sure if I really want to actively pursue more. Perhaps later. Then there's listings in DMOZ and Yahoo!. Blogspot is listed at both, but my specific blog is not. I checked both and neither allowed for the inclusion of adult blogs. I'm also not listed at ZoomInfo, but it is set up for businesses not sites. Blogosphere This section measures how popular your blog is on Technorati and how many times a submitted post has been "dugg." For Technorati, I Love Cuckoldry ranks in the top 3.67% of blogs (2,569,572). I think I can at least start to add the posts and see what happens to them afterward. For Digg, I never submitted, and neither has anyone else, any of my posts. Ultimately, I may have to be one of those violators and add an "Add This" button to the blog posts. Social Mediasphere Website Grader seems to look only at del.icio.us and Digg. So, that tells me I'll need to add my posts here, too. I did in the past, but I never got any traffic from submitting. On the other hand, I don't get any traffic from submitting to Bring The Porn everyday either, but I still do that. Massive Pinging I learned of a mass-ping site called Ping-o-matic (pingomatic.com). They let all the major search engines know when you've updated your blog. I added I Love Cuckoldry to the rotation on 28 November 2008. Here are the services I chose not to ping and why:
Current Rating Up 4 Points After working with everything except Digg, Technorati, and De.li.cio.us, I Love Cuckoldry is up 4 points to hit a respectable 65. I don't think I'll really get it much higher without aggressively seeking inbound links or changing to WordPress. Next Time on SM4P - SEO Case #2: I Love Swingers - Step 1: Metadata Tags 8:05 PM - 30 November 2008 - comments {0} - post commentSEO Case #1: I Love Cuckoldry - Step 3: Post Metadata Tags & Readability LevelContinuing with my refinement of the I Love Cuckoldry blog...Blogger Doesn't Allow Metadata Tags in Posts The next Website Grader section is "Interior Page Analysis," in other words, they look at the SEO worthiness of each post. I note that the "Keywords" and "Description" for each post are taken from the overall blog's metadata tags. I tried to add the appropriate code, but Blogger wouldn't accept it. I resolved to alt tag any links I included. As I dive into this SEO world via WG, I more deeply understand why so many people choose to use WordPress over Blogger. The rally cry seems to hold true - WordPress is optimized for SEO. Perhaps Blogger has some way in place, but I need to investigate. As a result, I can't add metadata tags like keywords and descriptions to individual posts. Elementary Students Could Read My Site Not that I want them here, but Website Grader has rated my site as being at a Primary reading level. In terms of SEO, this is a good thing. Nothing to change here. Next Time on SM4P - Step 4: Off-Page SEO 8:03 PM - 30 November 2008 - comments {0} - post commentWeekly Review - Porndate 23Nov08Here's the weekly lowdown. First up, I'll give you the weekly I Love blog summary:
Overall, subscriptions are up and hits are slowly creeping higher (on average). My next step is to enhance the SEO on the I Love blogs. The first steps are on-site related, which is better known as SEO. I'm starting with the best-performing blog, I Love Cuckoldry, then going to the worst-performing, I Love Swingers. After enhancing the metadata and alt tags, it's on to the social marketing aspects! 11:54 AM - 23 November 2008 - comments {0} - post commentSEO Case #1: I Love Cuckoldry - Step 2: Alt TagsWorking my way down the items listed on Website Grader's (WG) assessment of I Love Cuckoldry, I next hit up the Image Summary section.Current Image Details WG not only lists how many images are displaying on your page, but provides details as too what is missing from them SEO wise. The main problem I see is that WG doesn't distinguish between functional images (like the "edit" icon) and content images. Only the latter requires alt tags. I went back through all my posts and provided descriptive alt tags to each image. Here's an example of how I tagged one particular post. img src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jyFVn.../YoungCuckoldress18Nov08.jpg" alt="This young cuckoldress thinks cuckolds are strange for liking when they are denied pussy" border="0" (from Young Cuckoldress Denies Your Dick) Now if I did this correctly, this image should start to rank higher and generate more traffic for the keywords incorporated into this alt tag (cuckoldress, cuckolds, denied pussy). I didn't alt tag any of my sidebar images, as I don't necessarily see those as the draw. WG lists if an image has an alt tag associated with it, along with the alt tag itself. Also, I only alt tagged the images that were added after I switched to affiliate programs instead of simply reporting on cultural norms. In the long-run, driving people to my affiliate-linked images benefits me more than simply attracting people to images I post. Too Many Images? Resize them! WG says that I have too many images on my blog, says that it slows down load-time. This is where I wish WG would actually time the load time instead of merely making this statement. The I Love blogs will always have "too many images," as the blogs are designed to show some kind of photo in nearly every post. Long ago, I took the necessary step to prevent my blog pages from loading too slow. Namely, I compress all photos to web standards. I rarely post an image that exceeds 50k in file size. My pages always load quick on my end, so I find this section of WG a touch misleading. Why I Didn't Initially Alt Tag Images I was under the impression that search engines look at image names. As a result, I made sure to name photos in the most descriptive ways possible. Although I get a lot of hits from Google Image searches, I don't get them via keyword searches. Now that I've added alt tags to each image, it will be interesting to see how my hits change. Next Time on SM4P - Step 3: Post Metadata Tags & Readability Level 10:47 AM - 23 November 2008 - comments {0} - post commentSEO Case #1: I Love Cuckoldry - Step 1: Metadata TagsToday, I begin to use Website Grader to improve the I Love blogs' search ranks. I debated which to start with, the one with the highest or the lowest grade. The highest won out, so today we spruce up I Love Cuckoldry.Weekly Traffic (Week 41 - Week 46) Here's my stats for the previous six weeks: ![]() As any SEO tweaks usually take about 6 weeks to go into effect, I've given the prior six weeks. You can see that the blog experiences some peaks and valleys. The blog is still not reaching the higher numbers of six weeks ago, but they are steadily climbing. I can do nothing in terms of SEO with these stats aside from monitoring them, but hopefully my tweaks tonight will cause the hits to spike. Keyword Analysis This section of StatCounter details how often certain keywords drive visitors to a site via a search result. At the time of this post, these were the keywords that appeared most often:
1. Determine the Most Often Occurring Keywords Each website should contain a head set of metadata. Among them is one especially for keywords. Keywords differ from the site description in that a description requires the use of a tagline of sorts. Keywords are merely words that you think other people will enter when using a search engine. The most often occurring keywords from the list are as follows: cuck, cuckold, wife, hubby, bull 2. Gather All the Words Above & More You generally don't want more than 200 characters in your keywords metadata tag, but there aren't too many characters in use above. Here are a few more that I will add to the mix: cucked, cuckold videos, cuckold chastity belt These might make for some niche or long-tail hits, too: real cuckold, forced abstinence, caged cuck, cuckold confessions, cuckold stories That's around 140 characters. In the interest of optimization, I should add a few more words: husband humiliation, husband watch wife 3. Add Keywords Above to Metadata Tag I have the HTML view of I Love Cuckoldry open and have found that blogger doesn't optimize for SEO. Notably, they offer no place to enter in keywords, but they do offer a place to enter a description. Little good it does, though, as a quick view at the source code reveals that no metadata tags aside from title are included. Before I can add my keywords to I Love Cuckoldry, I need to code the line: meta name="keywords" content="cuck, cuckold, wife, hubby, bull, real cuckold, forced abstinence, caged cuck, cuckold confessions, cuckold storiescucked, cuckold videos, cuckold chastity belt, husband humiliation, husband watch wife" 4. Insert Keyword Metadata Tag in Site Head The "head" of any site is the top level information portion of your sites code. It appears at the top of the webpage to help bots easily index a site. While viewing your site's HTML or CSS style sheet, you should see a head meta tag. You might find the keyword metadata tags already in place. If so, you can replace the line of code, or just copy and paste in the keywords themselves. If you don't find the keywords metadata tag, then paste the line as the last item, below the description and title metadata tags. In my case, I have to add it. 5. Describe Your Site Using Keywords Based on the keyword analysis above, you can write up a brief description of your site. Most SEO specialists will advise you to use different words than the ones you used as keywords. Really, you should blend in the best of the keywords with a truly descriptive description. 6. Insert Description Metadata Tag in Site Head Same deal as #4 above, only the description metadata tag goes right below the title metadata tag. Once again, I had to insert this metadata tag into my blog. Here's the line I coded: meta name="description" content="Cuckolds get humiliated, sissified, degrading and otherwise subjugated by their HotWives and the Bulls who service them. Whether recognizing his inadequate size, his wife's inner slut, or as a form of release, we cuckolds celebrate this rapidly emerging form of sexual expression. Lots of cuckolding pics and videos." Blogger Altered the Code Once I added the description and keyword metadata tags, I got an error message. I ended each line with "/meta" and the system accepted the edit. But it cleaned up the code a bit. This is how they changed it: meta content='Cuckolds get humiliated, sissified, degrading and otherwise subjugated by their HotWives and the Bulls who service them. Whether recognizing his inadequate size, his wife's inner slut, or as a form of release, we cuckolds celebrate this rapidly emerging form of sexual expression. Lots of cuckolding pics and videos.' name='description'/ I'll be sure to keep this code handy as I attempt to optimize all the other blogs in the Rogue Erotica Network.meta content='cuck, cuckold, wife, hubby, bull, real cuckold, forced abstinence, caged cuck, cuckold confessions, cuckold stories, cucked, cuckold videos, cuckold chastity belt, husband humiliation, husband watch wife' name='keywords'/ I Tried to Raise My Score But… After adding the metadata tags above, I went back over to Website Grader to see if my grade rose any. Not only did it not budge from 62, they reported my blog as missing metadata tags. Perhaps their servers need to refresh. If theory proves correct, this simple addition to I Love Cuckoldry's code will help attract much more traffic. As stated above, though, I have to give the metadata tags about 6 weeks to start working their magic. Only time will tell if they work. Next Time on SM4P - Step 2: Alt Tags 12:58 AM - 22 November 2008 - comments {0} - post commentWhat Is SEO?As your reading this article on a blog dedicated to social marketing, you most likely know what I mean by "SEO." For those who aren't familiar with the term, "SEO" stands for "Search Engine Optimization."Basically, SEO is the art of making sure your site or blog has the highest rank possible in search engines like Google, Yahoo!, and MSN. The nature of how to effectively employ SEO techniques changes wildly at times, depending on changes made by the search engine giants. Yet, some key principles remain the same. SEO can best be boiled down to keywords. Keywords Are Key Keywords are words that search engines look for and "index," a process of filing away web page information for speedy search results. Search engines check for keywords in a variety of places on a web page. In the Code's Metadata Tags You can't visually see these keywords, because they are hidden in your site's code. Bots, the pieces of programming that search engines send out to crawl and index sites with, look for meta tags first. The three most important metadata tags in terms of SEO are a site's title In the Site's Content Bots also crawl for keywords within the actual content of a page, but not usually too deep. It's truly important to incorporate keywords in the first couple sentences of any post. It's also a great case for introducing any other type of media you may be providing, like photos or videos. In the Site's Pictures Through the use of alt title tags Other SEO Factors SEO is actually more than just keywords, but you have less-to-no control over the other factors. The Social Marketing Factor I haven't quite cracked this one yet, but the way I'm told it works is that people will "bookmark" or "digg" your article, post or entire site. As more people bookmark your pages, you gain more notoriety. There's not much you can do SEO wise, as this approach relies on others to help boost you to the top. The best you can do here is to make bookmarking as easy as possible. Inbound Links The more that people link to your site from their site, the higher your search rank. This use to be a truth when it came to SEO. Then webmasters tricked the system too many times. Google was the most peeved and completely diminished the power of inbound linking, once the signature way that Google determined their patented PageRank. This doesn't mean that inbound linking now hurts a site's rank. Google has recently added more importance back to inbound links. So, the lesson is that a good amount of inbound links is good, but too many can hurt your rank. The Website Grader I recently discovered an especially terrific SEO analysis tool. At Website Grader, you enter your URL and it will generate an overall grade for your site. The best part is that not only does it tell how key areas of your site or blog are performing, they suggest ways to better optimize those areas. Not only do I highly recommend you check out how your site is doing, I plan to begin an intensive case study using Website Grader to improve the I Love blogs' search rank. 10:39 PM - 21 November 2008 - comments {0} - post commentWeekly Review - Porndate 9Nov08And on today's plate. . .Here's the weekly lowdown. First up, I'll give you the weekly I Love blog summary:
Twitter Pitters Out In analyzing the stats, I only noticed one hit from Twitter. As I provide a link for each I Love blog after adding it to the Bring The Porn toolbar, all my followers have a way to check out the daily posts. Yet, I've received no new traffic from there. When I first started, I could count on a few hits via my tweets. I think this illustrates how fleeting Twitter traffic can be without some form of enticement (ex. contests and the like). This last week, I added a "Follow Me on Twitter" icon to all the blogs. It would be nice to know how many new followers I have on Twitter as a result, but the tracking mechanisms do not exist. BBW Interviews My latest approach to I Love BBW takes me back into the world of social media. I have begun to interview BBW models. I then post the interview in segments, releasing each part each Saturday. My first interview was with new-comer Celeste Rain. She's the November BBW of the Month, but her presence seems to be diffusing from my site's hits. Maybe it's the amateur quality of her shots. I'm not sure, but the next few weeks are going to be far more juicy than the drier stuff like stats so we'll have to wait and see if it turns things around. In December, I'm going to feature the super-popular Kelly shibari. During our interview, we also talked a lot about running an adult business. Kelly runs her own adult industry blog and I'll be bringing some of her wisdom here for you. At any rate, I expect that her interview on I Love BBWs will result in greater traffic for me, and offer a rare peek inside the world of this super-smart pornstar. Future Explorations Beginning this week, I attempt to find and explore some adult social marketing opportunities. Thus far, my attempts to use the Bring The Porn toolbar as a way to increase hits has failed miserably. There's little in the way of exploring users' contributions. I have found several other adult bookmarking sites similar to Digg, but they all contain junk, low user activity, or strict guidelines as to what is accepted for post. Either way, I've got to find ways to promote the Rogue Erotica Network. Buying Rogue Erotica? I've slowly been working on a new Rogue Erotica Network homepage. I finally got it done and tried to plug in the HTML into my Geocities site. Unfortunately, it skewed the code and the page doesn't render as it should. This only pushes me to break down and buy some variation of the domain "RogueErotica.com." I would ultimately like to move all my blogs and sites to my own domain anyway, so not being able to post my updated homepage to Geocities is the catalyst. In fact, I think I'll see how much the domain's going to cost me right now! 10:37 AM - 9 November 2008 - comments {0} - post commentWeekly Review - Porndate 2Nov08And on today's plate. . .Here's the weekly lowdown. First up, I'll give you the weekly I Love blog summary:
What's up with the addition of "Subscribers"? I started using Feedburner to track my subscribers (those who click on my blogs' RSS icons) a couple months back. I'm basically trying to gauge the effect my blogging choices have on my audience. Beginning next week, I will report on how many subscribers I gained and how many I lost. About Adultspace Beginning this week, I will continue to socialize on Adultspace.com but will not continue to post content. The fact is, I've only received a handful hits from the 36 posts I've added there. By mid-November, I may resume posting there. Admittedly, blogging on Adultspace has resulted in a bounty of fresh topical content. Twitter On! I didn't pursue any new followers, but they trickled in. Particularly popular are my cuck updates. Now that my cuckold birthday wish has been fulfilled, I'm wondering how popular I will continue to be. Luckily, my wife seems to want to keep the cuck train a-rolling. On a different front, I've caught the attention of one of my top 5 BBWs of all time: Kelly Shibari. With any luck, she will be I Love BBWs' December Girl. Want to follow me on Twitter? | Want to follow Kelly Shibari on Twitter? One Last Stall I have one I Love blog left to schedule posts for - I Love Swingers. I posted out until the end of this year, which will leave me open to resume my porn social marketing explorations. I am planning to also resume the extra-love I gave the I Love BBWs blog and social network, adding bonus posts. After all, it was the blog that started it all for me! 11:03 AM - 2 November 2008 - comments {0} - post commentWeekly Review - Porndate 25Oct08And on today's plate. . .Nothing exciting to announce today, mostly because it's crunch time in terms of adding content and scheduling posts for the I Love blogs. So far, I've scheduled 2 months worth of posts for 4 out of 7. With the Halloween schedule and school conferences, getting those last 3 will be a challenge. No weekly stats analysis for you this week either. All are on a steady rise though, with traffic attributions remaining relatively the same. Adultspace & BTP Update Adultspace generates an occasional hit or two. The best part about my approach to promoting the blogs on Adultspace is that it has me generating new content on a daily basis. Thus far, I have been posting related content on the same day of the I Love blog post in question. Starting Sunday, though, I plan to delay reposting the content onto each I Love blog by one day. This helps me provide fresh, indexable content. The Bring The Porn toolbar has produced zilch. Amazingly though, a couple of my blogs are getting some good hits from Stumbleupon. Not from my account, but from others adding my blog posts to their toolbars. Twitter Update Now this is a mixed bag for me. My "splog," He Cums To..., receives the lion share of hits from Twitter. This isn't a surprise, as Twitter fosters the personal touch. I've also been excited to have so many people voice their pleasure in reading my posts. So, Twitter's not converiting into money, but my subscriptions are up and I am developing a steady following. Want to follow me on Twitter? That's it for this week. See you next Saturday for a much more concise round-up of blog analysis. 11:02 AM - 25 October 2008 - comments {0} - post commentLinks Like Land MinesFor further thought. . .I consistently include links to the I Love blogs in content that I post on Social Networks like Cuckoldspace, Adultspace and on Twitter. Yet, I receive little to no hits from that linking. Long and hard, I ponder if the time I invest is worth it. I consider calling a halt to those efforts. Then the thought occurs to me. These links are like mines that I lay around the internet. I never know when someone will click them. What do you think of continuing efforts on social networks that aren't generating immediate hits? Will the posting eventually payoff or are the efforts best used in other endeavors? 2:12 PM - 18 October 2008 - comments {0} - post commentWeekly Review - Porndate 18Oct08And on today's plate. . .Here's the weekly lowdown. First up, I'll give you the weekly I Love blog summary:
The piece de resistance about IAPA, though, is the list of "common typographical errors" — an SEO specialist's dream come true. Twitter Update In terms of hits? Twitter's not much of a hit producer. I have been using Twitter rather successfully as a way to garner a following, though. Many of my tweets revolve around my current personal cuckold birthday wish. In posting updates on Twitter, I can keep my posts short, then gather them and post them on my blogs and social networks, helping keeping me active without much extra work. Adultspace Update I get the occasional friend, no real communication. I continue to blog on a daily basis. Mostly, I talk about the polls that have been ending on the I Love blogs or asking questions. So far, no level of interaction. But, I continue to end with a link to the I Love blog post of the day. Ning Update Some of the networks have upwards of 20 members, others have only me. I don't gain much traffic from them to I Love blogs, but some of the groups are really taking on a life of their own. Long-term, this will produce some interesting results. 12:59 PM - 18 October 2008 - comments {0} - post commentStarted Twittering TodayAnd on today's plate..."Tweet tweet," goes this Twitterer! I went ahead and created a twitter account today and I've been posting ever since. In fact, I'm going to tweet this right after I finish. I already have one reciprocal follower, which is a big "Yeah!" However, it's from squiffy who has always been highly supportive of the Rogue Erotica Network. Much thanks, squiffy! As for marketing strategy, the beauty about Twitter is that you can only type 140 characters. Characters, not words. For those not in-the-know, Twitter is known as microblogging. It's actually based on SMS (Short Message Service). You may know SMS by its more common cellular phone term - text messaging. See where this is going? Suddenly, you're hardcore followers are getting updates via their phones if they wish. Now, you have a higher level of connection. The idea is letting people know what you're up to, where you're at. You can even tweet from your phone. No need to tether. An adult entertainer could use Twitter to great effect, I would imagine. Imagine an escort sending out one word: "available" - a stripper tweets: "special appearance at the Cat Club, 4th and Charlie" - a porn store chain texts: "1/2 price off anything if you mention this tweet w/in 1 hour." In my tweets, I'm announcing both personal and professional stuff, both being in the realm of smut, though. Because every character counts, I use tinyurl.com to shorten the URL I want to send people to. I just wish they would hyperlink words even if http:// is missing. 7 characters makes a big difference. I remain optimistic in regards to Twitter, but it will all depend on how many followers I get. Otherwise, I'm just talking to the ether. Want to follow me on Twitter? Then click that tasty drink already.Adult Social Network Update Adultspace has resulted in a few hits, but nothing to write home about. They have a lot of bloggers, I'm just not sure if anyone necessarily reads them. The thing I did notice, though, was a jump in subscribers on some of my blogs. Cuckoldspace is nudging up my hits, but mostly to I Love Cuckoldry. My own social network by the same name as the blog is the most active of all the social networks I created (details will follow). 4:57 PM - 11 October 2008 - comments {0} - post commentAdultspace & Cuckold Space - 2 Good Social NetworksAnd on today's plate...I officially started to market the Rogue Erotica Network on a couple of different adult social networks. Adultspace.com "A Stimulating Social Network for the Adult Community" Ruben has created a very professional looking adult social network with a highly active core group of users. They also seem to be promotion-friendly. My current approach is to use the search function to find some new friends. I post a blog each day about my results and make sure to end with: "Today's I Love blog is 'BLOG NAME'," linking the name to the blog. Cuckold Space "The World in Black and White" This is the fastest growing social network for cuckolds on the web. I haven't developed a strategy for this site, but they have a highly active user base who are passionate about the world of cuckoldry. I will most likely emphasize signing off with a link to "I Love Cuckoldry" with a weekly blog post about my own experiences. Both of these social networks are 100% Free and active. Go check 'em out! 11:22 AM - 2 October 2008 - comments {0} - post commentThe State of Social Marketing in PornAnd on today's plate...My fellow porn bloggers and webmasters, it's not easy peddling porn these days. Before blogging made posting porn so blamed easy, a person could make some nice scratch putting up smut on the interweb. My friends, I tell you that times aren't quite so prosperous for us know. How, oh, how does an ethical porn blogger crank up traffic by thousands? Emphasis on ethical. We know it would be so easy to spam people with links, but that's just not right. Yet, what recourse do we have. Let's face it! There is no real centralized and streamlined way to market porn the way non-porn sites can. Forever marginalized by an ever-prudish institution of advertisers, porn bloggers must rake their way up the search rankings. Often we resort to using only the basest of language to attract the widest audience. All of a sudden "The Story of O" needs something a bit more blatant like "Master Trains His Slut" in order to attract attention. I tell you, my fellow pornsters, these days are tough for us wanting to market porn.... Or is it just me? ;) Actually, I'm sure that there are a lot of great ways to drive profitable amounts of visitors to porn sites. I just need to figure out where and how. I have, and continue to, populate a network of porn blogs. The Rogue Erotica Network is a weekly series of blogs. Each day of the week is a different fetish, from BBWs to Swingers. Now that I have gotten into a routine of updating these blogs, my next step is to promote the hell out of them. That's where this blog comes in. I'm going to share my experiences here, and hopefully you will have some advice for me. So, without further adieu, I'm off to explore my options.. 9:29 PM - 10 September 2008 - comments {0} - post comment |
InformationMany social marketing opportunities exist for non-porn sites. Those of us peddling porn, though, have less avenues for promotion. Join me as I attempt to compile a comprehensive ebook that details all the ways to promote online porn. This blog will start exploratory but inevitably wind up instructional.Recent Posts• SEO Case #1: I Love Cuckoldry - Step 4: Off-Page SEO, Blogosphere & Social Mediasphere• SEO Case #1: I Love Cuckoldry - Step 3: Post Metadata Tags & Readability Level • Weekly Review - Porndate 23Nov08 • SEO Case #1: I Love Cuckoldry - Step 2: Alt Tags • SEO Case #1: I Love Cuckoldry - Step 1: Metadata Tags |
